Welcoming The Blessed Month of Rabi al-Awwal

Important events of Rabi al-Awwal: –

Rabi al-Awwal is the third month of the Islamic calendar. This month has great significance for Muslims. Many important events took place during this blessed month. To begin with, the migration to Madinah took place during this month. The Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) married to Hazrat Khadijah in Rabi al-Awwal. Eid-e-Zehra also takes place in Rabi al-Awwal. While some important personalities such as Hazrat Abu Talib, Hazrat Abdul Mutlib and Hazrat Fatima Masooma-e-Qum died in Rabi al-Awwal.these are some of the important events that took place during this sacred month. But the event which makes it the most special month of the Islamic calendar is the birth of the beloved Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), the Perfect Man: –

Allah sent the Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as a mercy for mankind. We are blessed to have such an excellent personality as a role model for us to follow. Allah says in the Quran:-

Say, [O Muhammad], “If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.”(3:31)

This indicates that following the example of the Holy Prophet is equal to obeying what Allah commands, for his whole life was spent in obedience of Allah.

Muslims all over the world welcome the blessed month with great sanctity and holiness for this month marks the birth of the beloved Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

Welcoming the blessed month of Rabi al-Awwal: –

There are many ways of welcoming the blessed month. Some are explained below: –

  • The best way of paying tribute to the greatest human being is following his footsteps. First of all we must offer five obligatory prayers with regularity. Men must offer the prayers in congregation.
  • We can fast voluntarily on Mondays, following the example of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as he used to fast on Mondays very often.
  • Feeding the poor and needy and giving charity can be the best way in which you welcome the month of Rabi al-Awwal. Looking after the sick and providing them with help as much as you can shall earn you great rewards.
  • Recite Durood Sharif as much as possible and increase recitation of the Holy Quran. Increase the Zikr of Allah as this pleases Allah a lot.
