Best Sleeping Duas
Duas – The Islamic religion has been created in a manner convenient for all its followers. The daytime is for balancing work with the remembrance of the Creator, while the night is for resting.
Best Duas, before going to sleep, it is advised that all Muslims follow a set of guidelines to earn the highest of rewards in the Hereafter. Performing the following deeds will not only benefit a believer mentally but physically and spiritually as well.
Let’s take a glance at 5 things to do and Duas as you should read before falling asleep.
Preparations before falling asleep
- Recite Bismillah (In the name of ALLAH)
Before the doors of the house are shut before utensils are covered with food and before the lights and fire of the house are switched off, it is best for the believer to recite Bismillah ( In the name of ALLAH). ( Bukhari)
- Dust the bed
All believers of Islam should remember to dust their bed at least three times before falling asleep. This can be done using the corner of their clothes. ( Bukhari, Muslim)
- Keep the mouth clean using Miswaak
Whether a Muslim has performed their Isha prayers or is about to, the mouth should be cleaned using Miswaak. This was an act routinely performed by the Holy Prophet PBUH during the day and night. It helps keep the mouth pure and clean before retiring to bed. (Sunnats and Kitabut Tahaarah)
- Be in a state of Wu’dhu
Every Muslim believer should make the effort to perform Wu’dhu before they go and retire on their bed each night. This protects the believer from all evil throughout their sleep. ( Hakim, Abu Dawood)
- Face the Qibla
A Muslim believer should fall asleep on their right side while facing the Qibla. The knees should be slightly bent and the right hand should be put below the head.
Duaas to recite before falling asleep
- Recite Ayat ul Kursi
Before falling asleep, Muslims should recite Ayat ul Kursi to seek protection against any form of evil. ALLAH will appoint a guardian above those who perform this pious deed while sleeping. ( Bukhari)
- Recite last two Ayats of Surah Al Baqrah
It has been observed the Holy Prophet PBUH as stating that any believer who recites the last two Ayats from Surah Al Baqrah (chapter 2- The Cow) will be benefited from rewards from the Creator and protection against all evil. ( Muslim, Bukhari)
- Recite Surah Al Mulk
The Holy Prophet PBUH has stated that those who recite Surah Al Mulk (chapter 67- The sovereignty) will seek protection from the punishment of the grave, until he enters Paradise. (Hakim, Tirmidhi)
- Recite Surah Al Kafirun
Believers who recite Surah Al Kafirun (chapter 109- The Disbelievers) will never be led to disobey their Lord or perform any form of Shirk. (Abu Dawood and Tirmidhi)
- Recite last 3 Surahs
Muslims are encouraged to follow the Prophet’s Sunnah and read the last three Surahs or Quls from the Quran and then blow over the body and all its parts three times. (Bukhari)
