The City Of The Prophet Mohammad (PBUH): –
The radiant city, Madinah Al-Munawarah is the home to Masjid-e-Nabawi where the Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is buried. This city is the second holiest city in Islam first being Makkah. The Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) loved this city very much. He once said: –
“There is a cure for every disease in the dust of Madinah” (Al-Targhib).
Those who go to Saudi Arabia to offer pilgrimage do visit this sacred city.
Significance Of The City Of Madinah Al-Munawarah In Islamic History: –
Madinah has great significance in the history of Islam. When the pagans of Makkah plotted against the Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Allah ordered the Prophet to migrate to Madinah so that he could be safe. The people of Makkah welcomed the Prophet and the believers who migrated with him wholeheartedly. Thereafter the Prophet Mohammad constructed Masjid-e-Nabawi in Madinah. There is a great reward of worship in the city of Madinah Al-Munawarah. Holy Prophet once said: –
“The person who offers 40 prayers consecutively in my Mosque, without missing a prayer in between, will secure immunity from the fire of Hell and other torments and also from hypocrisy.”
Visiting The City Of Madinah Al-Munawarah: –
Given the great sacredness and purity of this city, there are some guidelines as to how you must visit the city. First of all make intention as the following: –
“O Allah! I start journey to visit the holy tomb of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Please accept it from me.”
While you travel to this city, keep reciting Durud Sharif with great respect, love and reverence for the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). Before entering the Masjid-e-Nabawi, make sure that you wear nice and clean clothes, have taken a bath and performed ablution. It is better to enter the mosque through Bab-e-Jibirl or Bab-us-Salaam. If it is not possible you may enter through any other door. You must set your right foot first, praising Allah, then recite Durud Sharif and say:
“Allah humma aftah li abwabe rahamte ka”
Upon entering the mosque it is desirable to offer two rakat nafl tahiyyat al-masjid, meaning to greet the mosque. If you manage to get a place in Riaz ul Jannah, nothing could be better than that, otherwise you can offer prayers anywhere else in the mosque. Make sure that you offer prayers at a time, which is not Makrooh, meaning undesirable.
