Significance of Hajj Duas

Supplication for Saving Money for Hajj or Umrah

اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وأَغْنِني بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ
O Allah! Suffice me with what You have made lawful instead of what You have made unlawful, and make me independent of all others besides You. (Al-Tirmidhi)
Supplication for Leaving Home
When you are ready to leave your home for the most blissful journey of your life, supplicate to Allah for his constant protection along the way. Many people, especially women, leave behind their children when they go for Hajj. This prayer eases your heart.
بِسْمِ اللهِ، تَوَكَّلْـتُ عَلى اللهِ وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُـوَّةَ إِلاّ بِالله
In the name of Allah, I have placed my trust in Allah, and there is no power or might except by Allah. (Abu Dawud)
Recite Dua before Wearing Ihram
Ihram is the state of purity a pilgrim must assume before starting Umrah or Hajj. It has both physical and spiritual conditions to purify body, mind, and soul before presenting oneself at Allah’s service. Recite this supplication before wearing the Ihram to earn Allah’s goodwill.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أُرِيْدُ الْعُمْرَةَ فَيَسِّرْهَا لِيْ وَتَقَبَّلْهَا مِنِّيْ
O Allah, I intend to perform Umrah, make it easy for me, and accept it from me.
Talbiyah Recitation
Once you wear the Ihram, recite Talbiyah as much as you can from now on. This is a very powerful prayer to establish a strong connection with Allah. It summarizes the essence of the holy journey.
لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ لَبَّيْكَ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ
I am present! O Allah I am present! There is no associate with You. I am present! All praise and grace is due to You, and the dominion. There is no associate with You! (Muslim)
Supplication upon Entering the Holy Mosque
The moment you set your foot inside the Holy Mosque could be very overwhelming. You might start trembling with fear and joy. However, save your emotions till you set your gaze upon the Holy Kabah. Recite the following dua to earn Allah’s blessings.
اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ
O Allah! Open the doors of Your mercy for me. (Al-Nasai)
Supplicate when Seeing the Holy Kabah
Seeing the Holy Kabah for the first time is an astounding experience. It is the moment when Allah listens to all prayers. Make the most out of this moment. Beg and implore Allah with humility. Recite the following dua.
اللَّهُمَّ زِدْ هَذَا البَيْتَ تَشْريفًا وَتَعْظِيمًا وَتَكْرِيمًا وَمَهَابَةً، وَزِدْ مِن شَرَّفَهُ وكَرمَهُ مِمَّنْ حَجَّه أو اعْتَمَرَه تَشْرِيفًا وَتَكْرِيمًا وَتَعْظِيمًا وَبِرًّا
O Allah! Increase this House in honor and reverence and nobility and awe, and increase those who honor and revere it as pilgrims for Hajj and Umrah in nobility and goodness and status and righteousness (Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr, Ibn Taymiyyah)
Supplication for Tawaf
Tawaf is the most important ritual of Hajj and Umrah. Recite the following dua when performing Tawaf.
اللّهُمّ إيْمَاناً بِكَ، وَتَصْدِيْقاً بِكِتَابِكَ وَسُنّةِ نَبِيِّكَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
O Allah! Out of faith in You, conviction in Your book, and Your Prophet’s way. (Sunan al-Kubra)
Supplicate when between Rukn-e-Yemeni and Hajr-e-Aswad
This is a very sacred place in the Holy Kabah. Recite the following supplication in the last part of each circulation. This supplication is a complete and perfect prayer to attain goodness in both worlds.
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Our Lord! Grant us success in this life, and success in the next life, and protect us from the Fire! [Q, 2:201]
Supplicate when Drinking Zamzam Water
The Holy Water of Zamzam is one of the most revered blessings of Hajj and Umrah. Its refreshing taste replenishes the body and soul. Supplicating to Allah while drinking Zamzam earns a lot of reward. Here is a supplication for drinking Zamzam.
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah! I ask you for beneficial knowledge, and pure sustenance, and accepted actions. (Ibn Majah)
Arafah Supplication
The Day of Arafah is one of the most blessed days of the year. Allah rewards worship and prayers on that day countless times. It also reminds believers of the Day of Judgement. Therefore it is important to supplicate to Allah on this day to seek his refuge.
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
There is no God but Allah alone, with no partner or associate, His is the dominion, to Him all praise is due, all goodness is in His hand, He grants life and death and He has power over all things. (Al-Tirmidhi)
Hajj Completion Supplication
Once you have completed your Hajj, it is time to greet and congratulate fellow pilgrims. Allah loves it when a Muslim prays for his Muslim brother and wishes him well. Supplicate to Allah for your fellow Muslims.
قَبِلَ اللهُ حَجَّكَ وَكَفَّرَ ذَنْبَكَ وَأَخْلَفَ نَفَقَتَكَ
May Allah accept your Hajj, erase your sins, and replenish your provisions. (Al-Tabarani)
